Conservative Spring Forum in NottinghamConservative Spring Forum, Nottingham

The Conservative Spring Forum was held in Nottingham over the weekend and was attending by High Wycombe and Beaconsfield CF chairman Joel Foley. The conference was focused on the NHS and attended by many front benchers including Shadow Foreign Secretary William Hague, Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne alongside those reporting from the ongoing policy commissions.Wycome CF chairman, Joel Foley in Nottingham at the Spring Forum

"Confidence from the delegates appeared to be sky high" Joel told wycombecf.com. "This was reflected by the speakers, who all received a fantastic reception from the members. We've been consistently leading the polls, not just against Tony Blair, but also when viewed against the future Labour leader Gordon Brown. These are definitely changing times in the Conservative Party and in the UK. I've heard that today there was a sixth stabbing of the past week, the Labour Government response: A isolated incident. The delegates at the conference certainly held the belief that the public are willing to listen to politicians who are brave enough to tell it how it really is. I certainly believe David Cameron is the man to us in this cause".

Candidate Selection for the Wycombe District Council

Two members of High Wycombe and Beaconsfield Conservative Future have been selected to stand for the Conservative Party in the local elections on May 3rd 2007. The chairman, Joel Foley has been selected as the Conservative Party candidate for the ward of Totteridge in the local elections on May 3rd 2007 to the Wycombe District Council. This is the second time that Joel has stood for election in a local election. In 2006 Joel was the Conservative candidate for the ward of Keele on the Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, where despite increasing the conservative by over 300% lost the leader of the Liberal Democrats on the council. Wycombe CF member Daryl Roberts is the second candidate from this branch to be selected for the forthcoming elections. At age 20, this is the first time that Daryl has stood as candidate in an election and is another clear sign that the Conservative Party is leading the way to making politics more representative.

Joel believes that he can go one better than his 2006 performance and gain election onto Wycombe District Council. Joel said to wycombecf.com "It is time for Wycombe's Council to become more representative of its population, I am delighted to be one of two Conservative candidate under the age of 25 to be selected".

Daryl has spoken to wycombecf.com about what he aims to achieve by his campaign, and hopefully once he gains a position on the council. "I'd like to help reconnect politics with people. Many people I speak to feel like they have no control over what the council and government does, I want to help bridge that link, help get people involved. The first step is get elected and that, as the start, will help the council become a better reflection of the districts population".

If you'd like to get involved and help with campaigning, whether it be displaying a poster or helping to deliver leaflets, for both Joel's and Daryl's campaign, email the Wycombe Conservative Future chairman at joel@joelfoley.co.uk
